This family-friendly epic, featuring the likes of Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley, comes close to being a really good movie. Although it fails at greatness, I am not so sure they were really aiming for it. It’s a fun movie with plenty of action, fighting and such, but little gore and language and no nudity and sex. It’s rated PG-13 for the action, which I wouldn’t say is too much for a good family film. The protagonist is a young Caesar who predates King Arthur. The telling of his story is an attempt at rounding out the popular legend that is fun and entertaining. I’d guess that the target audience is young teenagers, but I didn’t mind watching it myself too much. I give it 3 out of 5, but bonus points for being a movie that I could have watched with my family.
