We rented this one for the kids because they say the previews and fell in love with it. I remember the old cartoon and figured it was another remake, and it was, only with typical Disney flair. We’ll follow the typical Disney live-action template for this one: 1) Take an existing story, 2) cast it with good but forgettable acting, 3) throw in some special effects and 4) toss in some stars. In this case it was Jason Lee, Jim Belushi in it, Peter Dinklage and Patrick Warburton. I enjoyed the movie only because I was thinking of My Name is Earl and Kronk in Emporer’s New Groove. Like I said, it was forgettable. The kids loved seeing a dog flying around and fighting bad guys and it was bearable for the adults too. I give it 3.5 stars for family-friendly Disney-ness.
